.Before
you decide to make use of my services you will obviously want to be
confident that it's going to be money well spent. This page includes reviews of my previous work. As Rowan Tree Research is a new venture, I haven't had many paying customers yet, but here is my most recent review: Living in Tasmania, Australia with an immigrant Grandfather from an Isle In Scotland has been challenging to say the very least, I was so fortunate to be introduced to William Cumming of Rowan Tree Research. My grandfather spoke Gaelic and English with a very broad Gaelic accent and told many stories so trying to piece the past together along with Scottish traditions of naming children after paternal and maternal grandparents, it was quite stressful and daunting. William kindly agreed to invest time researching on my behalf in accordance with my budget. Within a few days William provided me with a detailed tree and report outlining the history of my family. William also provided historical documents to verify the report. My MacLean family now includes Clans MacDonald and MacLeod, family which I never knew about. I would not hesitate to recommend Rowan Tree Research to any prospective clients in the future. Well worth the investment to find your family. Payment was easy with use of PayPal Accounts on invoice and William refunded me unused funds which was a complete surprise and confirms his integrity and honesty. I am one very delighted and satisfied customer. DM - Hobart, Tasmania Over the past decade I have written and published a number of books which showcase my research and presentation skills: In 2012 I produced a 281 page, fully indexed, hardcover book detailing my children's ancestors. If you wish you can see excerpts from the book here. This should give you a sense of the breadth of research that is possible, and also a notion of my style of writing. In 2018 I self-published a source booklet relating to a family from the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. In 2020, I self-published (through a successful Kickstarter project) two more related booklets. All three publications have been well received, with sales in Scotland, Canada, the USA, and Australia: ![]() These were favourably reviewed by Ronald Black (retired Senior Lecturer in Celtic at the University of Edinburgh) in the highly regarded journal West Highland Notes & Queries (March 2021). Excerpts from his review are given below: "three short but beautifully produced books...the traditions are fascinating, and cover the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries...a work of considerable scholarship...these three books constitute a model of Highland genealogical research, and it is particularly satisfying to note the rich rewards that can be gained by focusing upon an unusual forename." If you wish I can send you the full review, and also two others not quoted here; please contact me asking for them. If any or all of these publications are of interest to you, please contact me to purchase either hard copies (I only have a few left) or PDFs. |
